I occasionally get an email seeking an old excel macro that I wrote (back when I knew a lot less about such things, and frankly, I still don’t know very much) called treeflap.xls.
It is referenced in this paper:
Rees, G. N., Baldwin, D. S., Watson, G. O., Perryman, S., and D. L. Nielson, 2004. Ordination and significance testing of microbial community composition derived from terminal restriction fragment length polymorphisms: application of multivariate statistics. Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, 86:339-347
The authors used it to align and analyse TRFLP data (Terminal Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism, which I know even less about than visual basic programming). In the interests of making it easier to find, now that my old Monash website is no more, here is a new link to it. Enjoy (if this sort of thing floats your boat).
